Two young lovers died in each other's arms after a horrific head-on car crash days before their wedding.

Tragic Aleksey and Yana, both 20-years-old, were killed along with the groom’s cousin Nikita who died later in hospital.

A 19-year-old friend Alexander was also in the car and was detained in hospital after suffering concussion. He has no memory of the accident.

The terrible crash happened near the village of Pestovskoye in western Russia.

The friends were travelling together when they were in a collision with a local hunter driving a Suzuki Grand Vitara jeep with his dog.

The engaged couple’s car was almost completely destroyed as it collided and then rolled over several times after the crash.

The crash was captured on the CCTV of a cafe on the road side and when rescuers found the bodies of the couple, Aleksey had his arm around Yan as if he was trying to protect her.

Police are studying video footage from the cafe and also talking to the driver of the Suzuki who survived to try and establish what happened.
